Mombasa Invest is part of the Department of Trade, Investment, Energy and Industry in the County Government of Mombasa and collaborates with all county departments to ease the facilitation process for investors through liaison officers who handle investor queries directly to ensure timely, reliable and accurate information and efficient service

Mombasa Invest does not limit investment to the listed sector profiles. The sector opportunities describe untapped potential in Mombasa as well as what the County Government of Mombasa is focusing on as part of its development agenda. The opportunities are also listed as a guide to new investors who have no idea on what would be the most ideal investment in the County depending on variables such as the timescale to breakeven required, level of skilled labour required and the county control of the process

Mombasa Invest works closely with national investment promotion agency Kenya Investment Authority, Export Promotion Zones Authority (EPZA), Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) as well as Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and other private agencies to create linkages in ensuring investor facilitation and business efficiency in the provision of services. .
How will the change in government affect deals the county has made with investors? What are the policies in place to safeguard investors against such risks?
Change in government does not affect the business activities of investors in the county. Their property is safeguarded by constitutional provisions. Business obligations are bound by contractual obligations agreed between the parties breach of which is settled by the judicial system
What are some of the incentives the County is looking to offer to investors?
The County offers incentives through EPZA, SEZ, AGOA as well as regional blocs EAC and COMESA

The 485 km
Mombasa-Nairobi Highway (A109), which forms part of the longer Trans-African
Highway (Northern Corridor), is the main transport route serving East and
Central African countries from the Indian Ocean seaport of Mombasa.
. The Second Nyali Bridge
under the contracting
authority of Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is a proposed project that
seeks to apply a PPP arrangement for the development of a 2nd Nyali Bridge
connecting the Mombasa Island with the North mainland to ease congestion on the
existing Nyali Bridge and to make the traffic less dependent on a single
channel crossing.
· Multi Storage Terminal: Development of a multi-storey terminal on 1.6Ha in Mombasa to provide a modern ferry terminal, parking, bus terminal as well as a variety of commercial services to maximize revenue potential of the site.
· Integrated Marine Transport System: Development and operation of an IMTS on the vast Indian Ocean involving the provision of regular ferry services with landing on the Mombasa Island, Mainland North, and South & West i.e. water bus; leisure ferry services around Mombasa – cruise vessels; water taxis; coastal ferry services linking all coastal towns between Mombasa and Lamu and associated islands; and floating hotels.

Land is available in Mombasa County to buy, rent or lease depending on the sector preference and location. Mombasa Invest in collaboration with the Department of Lands Housing and Planning provides assistance investors in identifying viable land for investment
